... Another Missed Monday

I didn't actually MISS Monday, I just missed getting a blog post up. I really like doing a  post on Monday. Recapping the weekend. Admitting to a bump up in weight that seems to inevitably happen. Giving a little motivational Monday quip ...

Monday mornings can be a little crazy though, especially since school has started back up. Back to setting the alarm after sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday. Getting the kids off to school, me off to Zumba, with a stop at the store on the way home. It has been hard to squeeze in a blog post in the morning, and before I know it, the day is done!

But I still wanted to recap the weekend. I WAS up in weight yesterday morning, but it was my lowest "Monday" weigh-in in ... I can't remember how long! It bodes well for the week! I'd banked calories on Friday, unsure if the hubs would suggest dinner/movie. I wanted to make sure I still had some wiggle room. We didn't end up going out ... but I didn't indulge. Saturday morning was my lowest weight in years.

Hubs and I did end up going out to lunch ...
Have you heard of Rodizio Grill?
 It's a Brazilian steakhouse.
Lots of yummy meat, served up on swords.

Here's the hubs and I waiting to be seated.

Oh, I ate too much! I can't remember the last time I was uncomfortably full, but that was definitely what happened Saturday afternoon. It was really good though.

The previous weekend we had a break in basketball (for Fall Break) ... but game were back on this weekend. Usually I'm video taping the games (Basketball Mom) but the boys haven't been that interested in looking over their clips. This past weekend, I walked during the games instead. Neither of the boy's games were at one of the gyms with a track above the court, but both locations had a small area I could pace around in. I probably look like a stressed out mom ... I'm really not, I just can't stand sitting for very long. I got in 6000+ steps during each of the games.

Sunday was the normal "rest" day ... I still started/ended the day with a 20min session on the elliptical. I walked to/from church as well, but a pretty low step day. Slow Sundays ... I did keep calories in check and was thrilled Monday morning when the weigh-in didn't bump up. I had a very good day for eating and activity, and weigh-in this morning reflected my Motivated Monday *Ü* Hoping to keep it up (down) for official weigh-in this coming Friday ... Halloween!

It's Monday ...

I usually love Mondays. I'm ready to return to the routine after the "wicked weekend" ... weekends are hard. This last one was no exception. It was good ... which means it was BAD (funny how that works). Much of that had to do with it being my birthday. We went out with my folks on Friday. Saturday we stopped for donuts after the basketball game, and then had pizza & root beer while we watched a funny show (live theater,  "The Hungry Games" a parody of "The Hunger Games").  On Sunday, hubby made his wonderful BBQ and I made a yummy pudding dessert I had been craving.

Three days of BIG calories in.  Three days of not as much exercise, so not many calories out.  I did get in a little cardio, but looking back on these past three days, 20-40 minutes only gives me a TDEE of just over 2000. If I want my 3000+ daily burn I really have to work for it.

This morning didn't start out great. Stepping on the scale, I'm up FIVE pounds from the weigh-in Friday morning. Although I ate bad this weekend, I know I didn't eat an extra 17500 calories. I'm fairly confident that I can turn the weight around with a few good days and then get back to actually losing "new" weight. But I'm still dragging ... not sure if it's still the time change or what. I got some good sleep over the weekend and I hoped that would help.

This morning, #1 son was up at 4:30 ... and that woke me as well. He has early morning seminary, and his scout group was on flag duty (putting up flags throughout the neighborhood for Veteran's Day). He had thrown his laundry in and I could hear it clunking in the drier (I'm a light sleeper). Now looking on the positive ... I have a teenage son who can and does get himself up and off every morning. He also does his own laundry. So I'm trying to focus on those positive points (and not the 4:30 wake up call).

#2 has basketball tryouts tonight, which has me a bit on edge as well. He's a freshman, going out for the high school team. I'm fairly certain due to both politics and the amount of talent that he won't make the high school team this year, which I'm actually fine with. I know he'll make the 9th grade team and it has a great coach, is closer to home and is a lot less expensive and time consuming. But still ... I'll be glad when this week of tryouts is over and we know for sure. Uncertainty always has me on edge.

We had some issues with #3 and a book he needed, we got off a little late after trying to do a quick digital download (unsuccessfully) #5 wasn't feeling well. There are loads of laundry to do. I'm behind on sports videos.  Just NOT a good morning.

But, it's Monday. Motivational Monday. Gotta kick myself into gear. The weekend is over and it's time to adjust for the slipups of the last three days and push forward again. I've done two 20minute sessions on the elliptical already, and I will get in three more. I've got weights on the schedule too, and hopefully some bike and/or treadmill time. I'm watching "After Earth" before returning it to Blockbuster (as they have announced their closing. We did still get DVDS from them) and I have "The Good Wife" and "Downton Abby" recorded and ready ... I want to watch them. It's good Monday motivation for me!

Weekend ShenaniGAINs

Happy Monday. I am actually one of those strange people who LIKE Mondays! I love the structure of routine and weekends really wreck the routine! They can be SO hard when you are trying to exercise and eat right.  Today, I thought I'd link up with Sami's Weekend Shenanigans as I had a not-so-nice THREE pound gain from Friday morning. I must have been sheneniganing ... or shenaniGAINing!

I do count Friday as part of the weekend ... my routine goes out the window. The middle school starts late, so we all sleep in a bit. The elementary gets out early, so that disrupts my afternoon.  Friday means friends for the boys. A bunch over at our house, and I did end up running #2 to go hang out with his basketball buddies. Hubby came home from work exhausted, so no date night ... which actually meant I stayed pretty much on target for the day for exercise and eating.

Saturday was birthday day for #1.
He is now 18 years old!
We had a family outing to The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate.
Ipods are great for keeping the kids entertained while we wait ...

Ipods are also great for reflecting light into poor  #2's eyes.

... and we took an entire 10" cheesecake home.
#1's request for his "birthday cake"

So .... Saturday was NOT great for eating/exercise. Sunday wasn't either. We had our usual big Sunday breakfast (Belgian waffles, bacon and hash browns) and then hubby made his fantastic steak/chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner. I made rolls but resisted eating any. And of course there was still cheesecake leftover for dessert. Now ... I don't really even like cheesecake. I don't regret the meals, but I do regret eating the cheesecake! (I did still get in a little exercise both days, as you can see here, not enough to combat all the calories though).

So ... I bumped up into the 160's again this morning. Three pounds up from Friday morning. No, I didn't eat in excess of 10,000 calories, even with my wicked weekend. I'm hoping with a few good days back under my belt this scale bump will go back down. I was just really NOT wanting to see the 6 as the middle number again!

And BIRTHDAYS are done for a while (it was #3 and #4's birthday just the week before, so LOTS of celebrating and cake lately ... my birthday is next, and it isn't until November).  Up next ... SPORTS will be monopolizing Saturdays (and weekdays too!) Basketball and soccer starting up soon.

How was YOUR weekend?
