Ah November ... a few birthdays (my mom, me and Hubs), leftover Halloween candy and Thanksgiving. Poor #5 got sick and missed a couple days of school, and a few basketball games. He recovered enough to play in the championship game, which they won. While weight on the last day was higher than the first day, overall (average, high/low) the scale shifted a bit in the right direction.
NUMBERS: Starting weight was 169.5. End of the month it was 171.3. High was 172.9, and the low was 167.3. Average 169.48. Average Intake was 2252. Average Burn was 2749. Did have a deficit for the month (-4287). Step average was 22027 with 247 logged miles. Total steps 660,795. Cardio minutes logged 3464/3631 with 170 min w/weights.
EXERCISE: I got my hour of elliptical 20 days this month. Still hit it three additional days, just under my hour. Treadmill time 23 days, with 11 days double duty. Just 17 official Zumba classes, but there was quite a bit of extra on my own. I hit the bike once, weights three times.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: The usual driving dutires and grocery shopping. One last lawn mowing this year. At the inlaws (family time) for Thanksgiving and out to eat for my birthday. Baksetball should have been higher, but #5 was sick, sitting out two games and a tournament. Basketball will pick up some in December as #5 plays in a second league and #3 has some games. I'm so sad #4 decided not to play this year :(

(Thursday) Weight 169.5. Total Burn 3176. Exercise Burn 1280/1404 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 2700. Well I think I finally slept. Maybe it just caught up with me and had to happen, or maybe putting some words down on paper yesterday helped. Hubs was sleeping in, as he wasn't going into work today, but off to the airport instead. So I beat him up. I was up at 5:35 Got in a 20min elliptical session, then a 10min one, cut short as #4 needed to go early to take the test he'd missed last Thursday when I brought him home sick. #5 was willing to go early too, so that saved me an extra trip. Although #2 was leaving at the same time and going right past the school ... if he had taken them that would have saved me my morning trip. I got another 20min elliptical when I got back, but didn't fit in the final 10min. Got distracted with ducks (two eggs), and Thursday mornings I need to make sure the house is ready for the cleaners. My "ready" is cleaner than I used to keep the house period! All the counters cleaned off, sink empty (so I unload and load in the morning). Supplies laid out. Zumba w/MZL. Stats: 6936 steps. 3.02 miles. 503/446 burn. AvHR122. High141. In Zone 44 of the 68 minutes. I stopped at Walmart. Restocked cans of catfood and some fruit. The lines were SO long, so I used the self-checkout. Then to Sam'sClub for milk, whipped cream, bacon and some of their specials (wipes). My app had logged me out, which was a pain because I couldn't remember which password I'd used. I reset the PW, then the credit card wasn't working. Not sure what is up with it all. Paid with a different card and finally got out of there. Grabbed gas ... the card worked for that. Sure is cold out today! Very gloomy. No sun. Some rain. Got things put away at home. The basement bathroom got skipped, so I'll have to hit that myself. It's funny how my perceptions have changed. I was so bad at keeping things cleaned, but now I really want it all clean! I was surprised at how messy the upstairs bathroom had gotten in just a week. In the master, I ended up cleaning off the top, decorative shelf. Some towels and knickknacks. It was a bit precarious as I stood on the bathroom counter and attempted to vacuum up the dust and scrub things down. Just left a couple of the plants up. Did a few loads of laundry. The green waste hadn't been picked up yet, so I worked a little in the yard adding some plants from the front to top it off. End of the month, so I did my 1SecondEveryDay video. Made a muvee. Picked up the boys. #2 had missed school (excused) to attend the girl's volleyball state championships up at UVU. He came home with some Krispie Creme donuts. I hit the gym for a treadmill time. #1 texted asking about coming over to make Ziti (I'd offered to teach them, using our supplies, then both profiting from the finished product). We made a triple batch, and I did a couple gluten-free for my dad, and one vegetarian for #2. Then there were four regular ones. Then the kids played cards again. I did my final 10min elliptical to end the day.
(Friday) Weight 168.8. Total Burn 2515. Exercise Burn 620/746 (60minElliptical). Calories in 1800. So Hubs was off to Seattle yesterday. I was sleeping alone last night. I slept pretty good again. Some snoring, which without Hubs here I have to credit to myself. My throat was feeling a little sore, as it sometimes does after snoring (or is being a little sick what causes the snoring?) I am feeling a bit under the weather. Unlike a couple weeks ago, where the lethargy/stomach/headaches were weird and unexplained, this does just feel like a regular cold. Hope it's not strep. My throat is a bit swollen, and that can be a sign of strep for me (more than any other symptoms). I had slept in, setting the alarm for 7:30. I woke up shortly before it. I got two elliptical sessions in, then took the boys to late start. While I generally will try to hit a partial Zumba at least, because I wasn't feeling 100% and needed to stop at Smiths ... and it was on the way home from the school but not Zumba. So, no Zumba today. I mainly needed to pick up prescriptions. Refills for my two, Hubs and then for #4. I like that I have them all on the same monthly schedule. Had a couple little snafuus (#4's doc had prescribed an expensive dissolving tablet instead of one to swallow, but that's the one we don't really need so I just didn't get it). Then I got double charged for my two, but I noticed in time to get it refunded without a problem. I hadn't really checked the ad, but there were quite a few sales on. I ended up with shopping cart full. So back at home I got everything unloaded and put away. Finished up my final elliptical to get in my hour. Didn't make it down for a treadmill time today. Picked up the kidlets from school. #5 had practice, so I dropped him off. I'd noticed I hadn't gotten a $5 credit on my shopping earlier, so I made a quick trip back to Smiths to get that corrected, then stopped at Little Caesars for some pizza and breads. I'd bought a card from my nephew for a free crazy bread with pizza purchase and used it for the first time. It was crazy busy but they handled it well. #4 had said he wasn't in the mood for pizza when I offered to grab some after school, but he came up and ate some. Although he's been spending a lot of time in his room in the dark. He's been depressed and sad for a few days now :( #2 and his girlfriend were over in the evening. Doing homework ... and a candy fight. We also talked a lot about some of the stuff going on lately with brothers. #3 showed up with some friends and they hit the hot tub ... even when it started raining pretty hard on them! I finished up a muvee and some other computer work, and my monthly 1second video. I filled out my ballot and put my vote in the mail.
(Saturday) Weight 168.1. Total Burn 2486. Exercise Burn 630/719 (60minElliptical). Calories in 2500. Slept pretty good last night. Always a little cold in the morning, so I try and turn the heat up when I wake so that the boys will be willing to get up. #3 was off to work, 11-close today. #5 had a 2:00 game, against UBC. We lost by three last time. This time ... won by 20. Our boys had a good game and worked together really well. Championship (lower division) on Tuesday night). I'd gotten two elliptical sessions in early, and one more after the game. I put in some chicken to bake, and mowed the front lawn. I'd invited my folks over for "Grandparents and Games" and #1 and wife were coming over to make Tinga and play Progressive Rummy. #2 was off with his girlfriend to see the Harlem Globetrotters. The grandparents liked the dinner. Gluten free for grandpa. I had some green grapes I'd picked up yesterday and they were delicious! We played some RummyKube with everyone, and then #1 and wife took the grandparents on a quick field trip to see their apartment. Then when they got back, we played progressive rummy. I had a good night, winning almost every hand. Not the last hand though, and that's the one that counts (so Grandpa actually won the game). We stayed chatting for quite a while. Discussing FAFSA (Grandma attempting to incentivize #1 into doing it). After #1 and Sol took off, I was still talking with my folks when #2 and his girlfriend arrived, and #3 soon after. So everyone got to chat. We'd had some Skookie earlier, and Grandma had brought her fudge, which is a favorite treat. I sent the two Ziti pans I'd made home with the grandparents, as well as some excess freezer stuff (chicken, ground buffalo). It was after midnight when I finally headed to bed. Clocks change tonight ...
(Sunday) Weight 168.4. Total Burn 2227. Exercise Burn 180/458 (35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 2200. Nice to get an extra hour. I'll appreciate having it lighter in the mornings, as I drive the littles to school, but I will not like it getting dark at 6:00 in the evening! I really don't like driving in the dark. My eyes are having issues as I age. It will work a bit better with the ducks, giving them more time to lay (if they are going to ... just one egg today) before I go out and disturb them. After my duck duty, I started on some kitchen cleanup and breakfast prep. #1 and wife showed up early (9:30ish) so I put them to work making the waffles. I had been peeling the baked potatoes for hashbrowns and putting bacon on. We had a full house ... just missing Hubs. After breakfast, the kids played Monopoly. Even though I'd gotten a good night's sleep, I was feeling super tired. I took a nap. #2 unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. Sweetheart! I did a few loads of laundry, vacuumed downstairs, vacuumed upstairs and made sure the house was ready for Hubs to come home to. I'd also spent some time in the shed straightening it up, and cleaned off the upper decorative shelf in the main bath. Put up a new shower rod in the downstairs bathroom. I'd meant to get to the back lawn (I'd only mowed the front yesterday) but it was quite chilly and I ran out of time. The kids still played some Spikeball and took some silly "hoodie" pictures. I helped #3 a bit on some homework, then he had to head out to work. Football and basketball on as usual, although in the morning we put on family videos. #1's wife enjoyed seeing "Little Landon" like that. I hit the treadmill for a walk, then made some cookie/brownies for a Sunday treat. Still plenty of Halloween candy being eaten by everyone! Me included. Finished up my monthly recap blog post and did some "book reports" on recent reads. Pretty productive day.
(Monday) Weight 169.6. Steps 29515. Total Burn 3122. Exercise Burn 1350/1346 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 60min/3.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 1800. Oy, not a good night. Hubs even has a portable fan which he turned on, but it wasn't quite enough for me to fall asleep easily. Still, better that on a summer night when we needed the A/C, or even here, without the heat. Checking in (so nice to have phone backups) the original estimate for power back up was 1:00 - but then it got switched to 10:00 am. Then I was worried about the food in the freezer and attempting to get ready in the morning without electricity ... even waking up, would the phone battery last to provide an alarm. I fell asleep for a bit, but then woke around 2:00, and didn't fall back to sleep for a while. Power came on about 5:30, which was right about when my alarm went off. If power was out still, I wouldn't have had any reason to get up early. While I can do the elliptical without power, I need something (TV) to entertain me. I got my full hour in, and the kids got up and off okay. I was glad I didn't need to open the garage manually. I'd been asked to help at Kirsten's Zumba, so I went there again. Stats: 5789 steps. 2.51 miles. 448/364 burn. AvHR123. High153. In Zone 38 of the 60 minutes. After class I stopped at Reams. Didn't need much, just some bananas and bread. They had chicken breast on for a good price, but I still have a freezer full. I guess I should have grabbed one to cook up today or tomorrow. Easier than defrosting. #1 came over for a bit, just to chat and eat. I showed him the new toilet paper holder/shelf I bought for the main bathroom, and he installed it. The shelf is really for cell phones, but I wanted it for our "wipes" box. I got in a treadmill time, then picked up the boys from school. #4 has seemed in better spirits. Even said he might stay for intramurals tomorrow after school. I went out and refreshed the duck water and moved some leaves around, did some ducky digging. Chilly, but there was some sun, and it's not going to get any warmer in the forecast. I got in a second treadmill time, finishing up my movie. Then I took #5 to the high school. Bantam basketball tryouts. I remember years ago when #2 was in 7th grade. It was so competitive and stressful. Here with #5, not so much. It's his same Wolves coach who will be coaching, so we've really already got an in. #5 wasn't feeling 100% though. Gave him some ibuprofen and he said that helped. #2 had a basketball game. #3 was working. He'd also had an interview at the Nike Outlet - I think it went fine, but the requirements (available to work 36 hours a week, Fri/Sat/Sun) might be more than he can handle with school, and I think he had been thinking he might do it in addition to his KFC job. So I could tell he was disappointed and frustrated.
(Tuesday) Weight 168.7. Steps 26100. Total Burn 2926. Exercise Burn 1260/1155 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 1700. Hubs was up and off early, a little after 4:00. I wasn't sure if I'd fall back to sleep ... then I heard a horrid croupy cough from #5. I got up to check on him and he was pretty miserable. I went and grabbed some medication for him. He fell back asleep, even if I didn't. I got an early start to my morning workouts, but still didn't get my hour in, because as I went to take #4 to school, I couldn't find him. He was in his room. Anxiety and depression hit again. We chatted and cried for a bit and were both emotionally exhausted. He didn't feel like he could make it through school, so I let him go back to bed. I had Zumba ... not that I was in the mood for Zumba, but as I'm the teacher on Tuesdays, I didn't have a whole lot of choice. Even if it's just one or two, I feel bad canceling last minute. Both boys were sleeping, so I went to the church, and dancing it out made me feel better. We had a decent turnout too. Carma came, it was nice to have her there to help. Five others, so a good group. Stats:5965 steps. 2.63 miles. 489/381 burn. AvHR128. High145. In Zone 55 of the 60 minutes. Home again to check on the boys. Still sleeping. I felt like sleeping too, and laid down for a little, but didn't fall asleep. I'd contacted #4's doctor about trying a new medication. I heard back from him and we'll be switching from Prozac to Zoloft. I ran to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription. I did a quick stop at Little Caesers to grab some pizza and crazy bread. I wasn't sure if either boy was in the mood, but it's just nice to have the leftovers on hand. I was hoping that with rest, #5 would feel a bit better, at least enough to attempt his basketball game in the evening, but it was not happening. He just got worse and worse. Around 6:00, he could barely breathe, and that was sitting still. I let Coach know that he was sick and wouldn't be there. Championship game too ... I remember this same scenario with #2 years ago. That time was even worse, because #2's team lost without him, which eliminated them from the playoffs, and that was the final game that the team played together (they went their separate ways after that). There was just no closure to that season, no goodbye to teammates. I was able to check in and #5's Wolves won! And of course he's still playing with them ... although I'm not sure he'll be feeling better even by the weekend (a tournament with two games Friday, two Saturday, in addition to a playoff game in the Dimple Dell league). I have to admit, while I was disappointed to have him miss the game, it was a 9:00 game and I was SO tired, still on Daylight Savings time in my head, so it felt like 10:00. Too late to be going out! I was going to bed. #3 and #4 played some video games, then they went to KFC for some food. I was happy that #3 was getting #4 out of the house and a little active after his down day. It was VOTING day today too, so tons of posts about in on FB. Some polling stations were crazy, with five hour lines! There is NO way my anxiety would allow me to do that, but why does anyone do that when mail in ballots are available?
(Wednesday) Weight 167.9. Steps 28770. Total Burn 2986. Exercise Burn 1339/1215 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 60min/3.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 1900. I'd dosed #5 with the extended-release medication I had on hand, hoping it would get him through the night. It was a 4:00 awakening again. Hubs wasn't up, but my mommy hearing was in tune to #5's distress. He was coughing and I grabbed a bucket just in time for him to throw up in it. Not that he had much in his poor tummy. But better to get out that mucus choking him. I got in a couple sessions on the elliptical then went to wake #4, hoping he was going to face the day today. Alas ... he said he'd been sick in the night, throwing up three times. I normally take his word for things, but I couldn't help wondering if it was his anxiety again, or if he had been sick, if it was the anxiety bringing it on rather than sickness. So ... he didn't go to school again either. I debated going to Zumba. While I help out on Wednesdays, I'm not committed at all. They have plenty of instructors. I was dragging and not sure about leaving the boys (#5 wasn't doing well) but he said he'd be fine and could call if needed. I would only be a few minutes away. So I went. Stats: 6373 steps. 2.64 miles. 452/385 burn. AvHR120. High140. In Zone 26 of the 62 minutes. I went straight home afterward to check on the kidlets. #3 was not in school today either. It was a college prep/pre-ACT day for sophomores, so he didn't need to go to school. He'd slept over at a friend's house, then came home with friends and made waffles. He took one down to #4, who hadn't really left his room all day. #5 was camped out on the couch. Bigger TV, and I think sitting up is a little bit better for his cough then laying down. Both boys slept much of the day away again. Not having to pick up boys from school I had my day free. I got in one treadmill time and had to lay down some myself. So tired. Chatted on FB with UK about #1 as well. Did my ducky duties and worked in the yard a bit. I'd filled the green waste with leaves a few days ago, but still had a little room to cut down my hyacinth bush. It was chilly, okay when the sun was out, but cold when it wasn't. Emptied the garbages and recycling and put the bins out. #5 had missed the second day of Bantam tryouts (last night) and would miss tonight, but Coach called and said he had made enough of an impression on Monday that he would be on the 8th grade team (even though he's in 7th). I do prefer to stay with his two buddies, both for his sake, and mine ... as I require rides so often. I also think it's a bit better, so he doesn't have to play against any former Grizzlies teammates (they would be playing 7th). So we'll wait to see how this second team plays out. New coach, but it's always good to get new plays and perspectives.
(Thursday) Weight 168.3. Steps 32186. Total Burn 3176. Exercise Burn 1455/1407 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 60min/4milesTreadmill). Calories in 2600. Dang Daylight Savings ... I'm still waking up at the usual time, which now is an hour earlier than I need to get up. I was awake before Hubs, but he beat me up to the bathroom (I let him). I checked on #4, who said he still didn't feel up to going to school. I checked on #5, who surprised me by saying he thought he could go. He'd had a good night, not much coughing. So I took him to school. Left #4 sleeping and went to Zumba w/MZL. Stats: 6737 steps. 2.94 miles. 464/396 burn. AvHR120. High143. In Zone 31 of the 65 minutes. There was a bridal shower after for one of the instructors, but I don't do well at the additional social stuff. I did write up a recipe (that had been requested). I did a quick stop at DT, hoped to find some bungee cords but no luck. Then Walmart, just needed a few items. Did the self-checkout. The cleaners had come while I was gone. I had let them know that #4 was home, even though I figured he'd stay in his room the entire time. Just didn't want him startling them if he came out to go to the bathroom or get something to eat. He came up and took a little nap in my bed ... the kids like our bed, saying it is more comfortable. #1 stopped by for a bit, grabbed some food. Mentioned that Uncle Kolby had called to talk. I'd hit my elliptical early, and got in two treadmill times for additional exercise. I even jogged for just a bit during one of them. I'd done my duck duty in the morning and found one egg. Under the trampoline. I had to get the leaf rake to pull it to a reachable place. I went out in the afternoon to replenish their grain, and I found two more eggs! Late lays! I've got oodles of eggs right now, I need to get baking or something. I was anxious to pick up #5, to see how his day had gone. He said he had felt fine, but had sneezed and it had been quite explosive and "people around me were horrified!" I made some of his "favorite noodles" to eat for dinner. He has some calories to catch up on. He said he actually had been able to catch up on most of his missed work, still some math. Hopefully it will be as easy for #4 to catch up. I expect him to go to school tomorrow. Hubs had a derby up North, and had taken the trailer and gone straight from work.
(Friday) Weight 168.3. Steps 20528. Total Burn 2709. Exercise Burn 850/949 (60minElliptical, 35min/2milesTreadmill, 45minWeights). Calories in 3000. Awake a little before 5:00. Again. I'm still on Daylight Savings time, and my body wasn't paying any attention to the fact that it's "late start" and I could have slept until 7:30 or so. Hubs was sleeping in some. I stayed in bed for a little over an hour, thinking I might fall back asleep, but I didn't. I got in my three elliptical sessions and then dropped the boys off to school. #4 went without complaint today. With late start, I can only hit half of Zumba. I decided not to go today, but stopped at Smiths on the way home. They had some good 3-day sales (turkey breast for $.97 a pound, poptarts, cheese, TP) and I ended up with a pretty big haul, but saved over half of what the original total would have been. Home to put everything away. I got in one treadmill time. Made homemade oreos. Got an email from the high school that they were on lockout due to a situation nearby. This happened yesterday too! Just a precaution, no real danger either day, but still ... twice? Picked the boys up from school. A little anxious to see how #4 was, and how #5 did in gym (they hadn't had it yesterday). He did say he tired easily and it was hard to catch his breath. #4 went to bed when we got home ... and I didn't see him for the rest of the night :( I contacted Coach and told him #5 wasn't up to two late games tonight, or even the early games tomorrow (further away, I was just going to send him with teammates and they have to hang around for hours between games). We will attempt the 4:00 game in our regular Dimple Dell league tomorrow and see how that goes. Hubs was home from work early. I ended up doing a weight workout (finally!) and then we did popcorn and a show.
(Saturday) Weight 167.6. Steps 11727. Exercise Burn 300/407 (10minElliptical, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 3000. ♥ Happy birthday to me. It was a good morning. The scale number was better than expected, a birthday gift? ;) Hubs had to go into work for much of the day though. #3 was off to his "day date" for Sadies ... breakfast, then fun at Classic, then dinner and the dance later in the evening. I got in one little 10min elliptical and a treadmill time. I did some work out in the back, moving some things around, doing some ducky digging. Managed to smash my hand against the wall. Ouch! I am feeling the weight workout from yesterday. Not enough that I'm incapacitated at all, although there has been some groaning here and there. Enough that I know I did something, so that is good. Hubs wanted to do a family dinner, but the 4:00 basketball game was right smack in the middle of the afternoon/evening. He asked if a late dinner would be okay, but I hate facing possible crowds, and I'm not great out late. Hubs asked if there was a possibility we (me and #5) would be willing to skip the game. Normally, we wouldn't, but as he's still not at 100% and neither of us were sure he'd really be able to play to his usual ability and be an asset, we agreed that we could do that. So, dinner at 4:30 over at Tepanyaki with everyone except #3. Then back to the house for games (pirate, battling tops) and then Skookie. It was a very fun evening. Very ready for bed though!
(Sunday) Weight 169.2. Steps 11888. Total Burn 2231. Exercise Burn 320/463 (30minElliptical). Calories in 2300. Hubs was off around 9:00 for a day trip to St. George for a work wedding (gal at work). He drove down with another fellow. At home, we did our big family breakfast. Pancakes this week. We were out of buttermilk syrup, so had to whip up some of that too (I had remembered to pick up buttermilk earlier in the week). Kitchen cleanup ... #2 was a sweetheart and unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. No eggs today from the duckies. I wonder if they are done until spring. I got in 30min elliptical today. #3 took my car to get it washed, and cleaned out the inside too. Then he did Dad's car. All on his own without anyone asking. Nice! In the early evening, we had my folks over for pizza and birthday cake. I had picked up my/mom's favorite from SamsClub. White with buttercream frosting. Except that I had accidentally picked up chocolate with white buttercream frosting. I had to run back and exchange it. We played games, Scattergories and Rummikub with the littles, and then #2 showed up. Then he and my folks and I played a game of Progressive Rummy. #4 participated for a bit, but then headed to bed. He reappeared late for some hot tubbing. Hubs got home around 11:00.
(Monday) Weight 169.2. Steps 30770. Total Burn 3169. Exercise Burn 1516/1401 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 65min/4milesTreadmill). Calories in 2000. I beat Hubs out of bed ... I'm the one dressing in the dark when that happens. I got in my three early elliptical sessions. #4 didn't fight going to school, although I could tell he was a little off. #3 was very hard to pull out of bed! He got off late, which was actually an issue because he was parked behind the Durango, so we couldn't leave until he moved his truck. Usually it's not a problem because he leaves 10-15min before middle school. We can fit three cars in the driveway without blocking the Durango, but the placement has been a little off as #2 has been trying to park in the garage (his is the only other car that will fit, and it barely does). Carma was back to help Kirsten at her class, so I hit Southziders. Got a good workout. Stats. 6576 steps. 2.81 miles. 543/405 burn. AvHR130. High160. In Zone 59 of the 65 minutes. On the way home I stopped at Reams to grab more apples and bananas, and drop off some used grocery sacks. Daily tasks were kitchen cleanup, dishes, laundry. I got my weekly blog post up. I baked some potatoes, as #4 had been sad we hadn't had them for hashbrowns on our big breakfast yesterday (I had the Simply Potatoes shredded ones, which #5 prefers, but #4 won't eat them now that he's had the homemade ones). I made him some hashbrowns after school. He said he threw up again. It's been about daily. It started the day before the new medication, or I might think it was connected to that ... and he forgot to take it this morning (until after school, after he threw up still). #5 had practice in the evening with his new WJ team. I was super tired and ready for bed tonight. Hubs was going to turn on an episode, but I was rolling over to go to sleep. Couldn't stay awake.
(Tuesday) Weight 168.9. Steps 33887. Total Burn 3316. Exercise Burn 1444/1547 (60minElliptical, Zumba+, 70min/2milesTreadmill, WEIGHTS). Calories in 2500. I was awake a little after 5:00, but then Hubs beat me out of bed. I got in my first elliptical and worked on waking the boys. That sure can be a job! It's been cold, below freezing, and I felt bad for the duckies with no water, so I went out a little earlier than usual. I have to bring a bucket of water from the house and empty some of the bowls the night before (so they are empty, not full of ice). With this slight routine change, I didn't get my full 20min before middle school drop-off, just 10min. I did another 20 after I got back, before heading out to Zumba. Marian texted today and said she isn't coming back. I had suspected. So the class is mine, if I choose to continue it or cancel. We had five ladies there today and I got good stats: 6356 steps. 2.68 miles. 506/390 burn. AvHR129. High150. In Zone 58 of the 62 minutes. Back at home, I got some bread dough made and rising. Did some laundry and got the dishes washed. Then two treadmill times ... finishing up the new Jumanji movie, which was cute. Picked up the boys, then baked up the bread. Made meatball subs for a late lunch/early dinner. Hubs had a derby and #4 went to help. I got in a weight workout, then dropped #5 off at the high school for his basketball practice. Back at home, I did my final 10min elliptical to finish up my hour and did a little more house cleanup. Took a shower and then went back to grab #5. I was just going to wait in the car, but they were having a little parent meeting apparently (#5 texted to come in) ... no makeup, wet hair up in clips, wearing the rival high school's sweatshirt (as #2 and #3 went to CHHS not West Jordan). Hubs and #4 had stopped at Popeyes on the way home ... I was already over on calories, but I always indulge.
(Wednesday) Weight 169.4. Steps 30236. Total Burn 3094. Exercise Burn 1276/1348 (60minElliptical, Zumba+, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 1950. Hubs was up a little before 5:00, and I woke and wasn't able to get back to sleep. Got up around quarter after. Even with the earlier start, I didn't get my first elliptical until my usual time, and then only got in 10 more before taking the littles to school. #4 needed to go early to retake a Spanish test he'd missed while out sick last week. #5 was cooperative and willing to go early too, so I didn't have to make two trips. #3 has been parking behind me which usually isn't a problem as he generally leaves before we do. But not today (and he was running late yesterday, so it was a problem then too). I went out and moved his car ... but hadn't realized #2 hadn't left yet, and I'd parked him behind the 3rd car garage. So I had to go move it again. I got one more elliptical session in and did my ducky duty. Three eggs this morning. Surprising. My hands FREEZE in the mornings, but I guess that is bound to happen as I manually scoop the ice from the water. Brrrrr! Zumba w/MZL. As I hadn't been there Friday, they were celebrating my birthday today with the banners up, a card and a cake. Stats: 6581 steps. 2.77 miles. 5004/390 burn. AvHR120. High139. In Zone 36 of the 70 minutes. I stopped at Maceys after class, grabbing some baby carrots, bread, sub rolls. A quick DT stop too. Got everything unloaded and put away. #1 stopped by to use the computer and printer to file health insurance paperwork. I hit the treadmill for a couple miles then was off to pick up the littles. I had hoped they would stay after school for basketball intramurals, but #4 had been feeling sick again. He did say he was feeling better by end of the school day, but I still grabbed them at the regular time. #4 wanted to play catch with a football and his brother wasn't interested ... I guess he was pretty desperate for someone to play with, because when I offered, he took me up on it. After a little instruction so I wouldn't throw "like a girl" I was throwing and catching at least acceptably. #5 eventually did come out and join us, then take over for me. #3 had come how with his friend to work out in the gym. I was glad I'd gotten my treadmill time in earlier. #3 finally had a night off, and hung with friends then went to the school for the team night (introduction of the basketball team). I did my usual Wednesday prep for the cleaners, and putting the garbage bins out. Found one more egg as I went out again to see to the ducks ... the egg hadn't survived, broken by ducks or magpies. On the topic of eggs, #4 has had an experiment for biology going on. Sunday, we had measured a couple eggs (one chicken egg, one duck egg) then put them in vinegar to soak for 24 hours. Monday he took them from the vinegar, the shells having dissolved off, but the membrane keeping the eggs intact. Remeasured, and they had "grown" bigger. Then back into the container with corn syrup over them. Last night he took them out, shriveled and shrunken ... attempted to remeasure. Then in distilled water until tonight, when they had rebounded to their normal shape, still bigger than original (due to osmosis). The report wasn't due until Friday, but I told him to finish it up tonight and turn it in a day early tomorrow. The FINAL boundaries were finally announced today ... hardly any changes really in our section of town. Completely different from the original proposals which actually addressed the disparity in the school populations. With the parental uproar, the board just kept the status quo. With CHHS and its middle school feeders overcrowded, and West Jordan and its feeder schools not even close to capacity. Looks like #4's friends are officially in the Bingham boundary, which is actually the best move for #4 as well. That's where almost everyone from his current middle school is going. Of course WE are not in the boundary, so we'll have to permit in, which is a worry, as Bingham's numbers are very high, like CHHS (and CHHS had been denying permits, we had been lucky to sneak #3 in because of #2 still being there). Fingers crossed. If denied I'll come back with medical backup that my anxiety child needs this to make it through high school ... and I'm still not even sure if he will make it :(
(Thursday) Weight 167.8. Steps 32587. Total Burn 3116. Exercise Burn 1431/1356 (60minElliptical, Zumba+, 70min/4milesTreadmill). Calories in 1600. Weird dreams. Again. Yesterday it was bad dreams about my dad having brain surgery, and me having a retail job (both nightmares), today there were some old acquaintances from high school, not sure what made them appear in my dreams. Hubs seemed to be snuggling in a little late, so I beat him out of bed and was up a little early. Hit my first elliptical session before 6:00. Got the kids up. I had #4 skip his medication this morning and will have him take it after school, to see if we can mark a correlation or not. After dropping the boys off and getting the rest of my elliptical hour in, I headed to Zumba w/MZL. Stats: 6673 steps. 2.89 miles. 467/386 burn. AvHR118. High139. In Zone 26 of the 68 minutes. Stopped by Walmart on the way home. Didn't need much, more killing time until the cleaners were gone. After having been forced to use the self-checkout the other day (huge lines) it's now my go-to. Sometimes I guess I need that little push to try something new. Always nice to come home to a clean house, even though I'm actually leaving it cleaner than it really ever had been before the cleaners started coming. So much easier to keep clean with this weekly help. I still feel guilty about it, but we're keeping them. I got one treadmill time in. Originally #4 had planned on staying after today to make-up a math test, and #5 was going to give intramurals a try, but then #4 said he needed more time to study and would take it Monday. So pickup was at the regular time. He had also planned on helping Dad with tonight's derby, but had been invited to play basketball with his buddies. #5 was available and willing to do the derby, so it worked out okay, although I think Hubs does prefer the older boys, as they are able to do a little more. They took off for that, and then I dropped #4 off at Gene Fullmer. I had asked him if he'd had second thoughts about not doing Junior Jazz with his friends and he admitted that he had, but that they'd already filled his spot. Dang it! I had told him I was willing to pay just to hold the spot in case he changed his mind. While his friends would love him to play (he's really good) I'm sure they would have also be fine with one less player competing for playing time.
(Friday) Weight 167.3. Steps 18749. Total Burn 2542. Exercise Burn 900/785 (60minElliptical, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 2400. I was awake for a while in the night. Stayed in bed a little late in the morning. #3 was actually up on time, without me waking him ... and he'd got in late last night (which I was aware of as I was awake at 1:00). Got two elliptical sessions in before taking the littles to middle school. I could have gone straight to hit half of Zumba, but I wasn't feeling particularly motivated this morning. I got my third elliptical in to equal my hour, and a treadmill time. I did a little Zumba practice on my own. #3 showed up after school with a couple friends and were in the gym for a couple hours. Boy sweat smell! I'd put a turkey breast in the oven to roast, and had some pre-made rolls rising. I also made sugar cookies to turn into my annual turkey cookies. I sent a few with #5 when I dropped him off to catch a ride to practice. I'm not sure if I bumped my keyring in my purse or what, but my "panic" button went off, honking my horn. I was in the garage, so it was LOUD! I had been getting a low battery warning, so I did a YouTube search on how to change the batter (it wasn't obvious how to open the key fob) and luckily I had that battery on hand (same one as for the Fitbit Zip and old Omron pedometers). So that's good to have done. I'd been a little worried that one of these days my car wasn't going to start (I know there is an actual key in there, but ...). Hubs and #4 had a derby today, neither was very excited about it. Long day at work for Hubs with an out of town client, and #4 just seemed a bit off. Had gone straight to his room after school for a nap. They came home with Popeyes. I ate, even though I wasn't that hungry and was already over 2000. I'd taken a shower and got into jammies early. I was heading to bed when I could hear the ducks quacking, enough that I felt like I needed to check on them. I was in jammies already, so Hubs offered to go out with the flashlight, but I watched from the porch. I could see all six there, and they were fine, but agitated. Hubs swung the light around to see if there was a cat or something, but then there was an astounding rustling from the trees above. Sounded like many birds taking flight, and/or LARGE birds. Maybe a bird of prey or something? Owl?
(Saturday) Weight 168.6. Steps 10439. Total Burn 2078. Exercise Burn 350/311 (20minElliptical, 25min/1.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 2700. Sleep hasn't been great lately. Waking up and not being able to get back to sleep. Awake early ... which is okay on weekdays, but I'd been hoping to sleep in some when I could. #2 was off for an oil change, and Hubs left to run some errands. Looking at the seat set-up at his mom's for Thanksgiving, checking out a venue for a work party, he was going to stop at a store to grab a few groceries ... and he did. But he wanted avocados for guacamole and Smiths didn't have any ripe ones, so he left without checking out. He ran to Harmons later in the day with a little better luck. I had hit the treadmill when #4 wanted a ride to hang out with a friend, so I cut my walk short and took him. #5 had a game at 4:00 for the Dimple Dell (lower/upper ... so middle) championship game. The game before went into overtime, so we started a little late. Got the win pretty easily. #5 had a few turnovers and fouls early on and was having a little trouble keeping emotions in check. I wish he wouldn't get so upset. The boys got t-shirts ... or "a dress" as #5 said, as it's pretty big. We were just leaving when #4 texted he was ready for pickup. I'd told him I would need to grab him around 3:00 before I left, or that I wouldn't be home until 5:30 (it was about a quarter after 5:00) so I told him to call Dad, as Hubs said he'd be around to grab him if needed. Except Hubs was busy in the kitchen with his phone in the other room. I know I don't like it when I'm ready for a kid over to be gone to have it take a while, so I always really try to be prompt at picking up. Alas, I was still 20+ minutes away, but I got there to get him. #2 and his girlfriend were over making peanut butter kiss cookies, and they played some catch with #4. I was SO tired tonight, not sure why. I headed to bed early.
(Sunday) Weight 169.1. Steps 11298. Total Burn 2197. Exercise Burn 225/430 (43min/2.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 2700. Awake in the night. Again. I was awake early but didn't get out of bed for a while. We did breakfast. Hubs smoked bacon, I made hashbrowns and french toast. Hubs didn't eat with us though, as he was being taken to brunch by some work friends (his birthday tomorrow). I took the sugar cookie dough I'd made Friday and baked the rest up. It sure was sticky though! I had to add more flour. I decorated several into "turkeys" with candy corn. Hubs hit Costco on his way home and picked up a prime rib. It's on the Thanksgiving menu and he wanted to do a trial run. The herbs and such he was using made the kitchen fragrant! For this, he put it in his smoker at high heat, then turns the heat off and just lets the meat come to temp in the hot oven for a couple hours. Unfortunately his smoker started smoking, the heat had backed up into the fuel bucket and started the pellets on fire! He was able to clean it out but hopes it didn't damage anything. I watched the most recent "Grey's Anatomy" while walking on the treadmill. PlayOn had been terrible lately, lagging and stalling, so before I started I'd spent some time on my computer clearing out extra stuff (old basketball files, old video, etc) to clear up memory, and updated the program. When I went to walk while watching, it was fine. Happy about that, although that was the "fall season finale" so there won't be new ones for a bit anyway. I've been watching Starz since someone talked Hubs into a subscription. I think I'll end up canceling, but figured I'd quickly watch anything of interest then go back to Netflix/Amazon. As the prime rib was more of a trial, the official dinner was taco salad. I'd also made a lemon jello cake, for Hubs birthday. #2 and #3 were gone (girlfriend and work), but #1 and wife came over for dinner and dessert ... and games. I love how they get the little involved. They did a video game, and then Sharp Shooters. Hubs and I were tired and headed to bed. Kitten is in heat ... it's been a while. It's the only time I can cuddle without her biting my face off. Her constant needy meowing is adorable ... and annoying!
(Monday) Weight169.1. Steps 28829. Total Burn 3062. Exercise Burn 1450/1291 (70minElliptical, Zumba, 60min/3.55milesTreadmill). Calories in 2400. Happy b-day to hubs. I beat him out of bed, he had a little hangover and Jen-bein going on. I got my first elliptical in then made sure the boys were up. I could tell #4 was a little off ... I'm always a little unsure whether or not to ask him and talk about it. That usually ends up with an emotionally draining conversation and he stays home from school. We are still making up from his last three-day downtime. Today, I acknowledged that he was having a tough time but otherwise pressed on ahead as if I expected him to go to school ... and he did. He forgot a folder, and when I saw it back at home I texted to ask him if he needed it. I offered to bring it out to him but he said it would be okay. This did get in the way of my final elliptical session, I only got in 10 min. I was going back and forth about which class I should attend. Kirsten/Carma's is close and starts earlier (to get out earlier) but it's a little low key, I generally don't get great stats. Southziders is a further drive, and starts later, so I don't get home until much later, but I usually get in a good workout. When I was thinking I'd have to stop by the middle school to drop of the folder, I figured I'd go to SZ, as it's on the way, but when I wasn't going, I figured I stay close today. That turned out to be a good decision as my mom texted saying my #1 was coming out today, and could he bring the carpet cleaner we'd borrowed. I had to call him quick and have him come switch cars with me, as he needed more room. Luckily, this class was really close by for him to do that. So I was driving the Charger home. Stats: 4823 steps. 2.08 miles. 354/286 burn. AvHR114. High147. In Zone 21 of the 59 minutes. I wasn't super productive at home for the first bit, but then got some things done. Duck duty, laundry, dishes. I got my weekly blog post done and went through our family pictures prepping for the upcoming Christmas stuff (calendar and slideshow). I baked some chicken for Haystacks dinner and made wacky cake. Hit the treadmill, and did a little investigating first. The time was totally off when it was first set up, and Hubs had finally corrected it. Said he found the manual online (as it hadn't been anything obvious as I looked at the display to attempt it myself). The time is an hour off again, with Daylight Savings come to an end, so I figured I'd try to change it and see if there were any of the other settings I could switch up. One (of the many) thing(s) that annoyed me with this treadmill is that it had a 60min limit per workout. I guess that makes sense as a gym machine. Truthfully, it's not really an issue most of the time, but for a while there I was walking for an hour at a time. I had tried it a time or two on this machine and hated how it just stopped. I like to get closure with numbers ... round off my numbers, so sometimes that takes an extra minute or two. I looked at the online manual, and saw that I could turn off the time function. Yea. I could also add a "pause" option, which is also good, as sometimes I'm interrupted and need to stop for a moment, but hadn't been able to with this treadmill. So that will make it a bit more functional for me. I did an hour walk. Picked up the munchkins after school. He seemed in much better spirits on the way home ... I was still in #1's car, and #4 LOVES the loud base. I hate the loud base. I was being a little silly, much to #4's chagrin, and pretending that the base was bouncing me around. He and I threw a football when we got home, then he disappeared. In his room asleep. He had said he'd awakened uber early (like 4:00) and gone in the hot tub. I guess he needed to catch up. He was a little chagrined to sleep through a football game he wanted to see, and missed an NBA game too. I noticed Hubs met up with MIL at a sushi place (yes, stalking on FMF) so I figured he wouldn't be hungry for dinner and I didn't prep Haystacks after all. #5 had basketball practice, and we left a little early to pick up his teammate, the one who always helps us out ... nice to finally return the favor. I had said I'd take him home after too, but the dad ended up coming to watch and take him home, so we came straight home after. Off to bed ...
(Tuesday) Weight 169.7. Steps 31776. Total Burn 3161. Exercise Burn 1402/1393 (60minElliptical, Zumba+, 60min/3.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 2100. I was awake before the alarm, and before Hubs, but he beat out of bed. I got my three elliptical sessions in during the morning. Originally #4 had said he wanted to go early to retake his math test, and #5 was willing to go early too (kids can hang out in the gym and shoot hoops) ... but #4 wanted to study a bit more during lunch and take it after. Not as convenient for me, as then I do have to make double pick-up trips, but oh well. #3 had a hard time getting up and I had to get him to move his truck, parked behind the Durango. He had NOT worked last night, but I hadn't even seen him all day, as he hung out with friends straight from school until late. Found two eggs this morning during duck duty ... so I guess they haven't stopped laying yet. Zumba over at the church. Small class today. Just Barbara and Carma to start, then Bonnie and Mirabelle came a little late. Stats: 6794 steps. 2.97 miles. 501/429 burn. AvHR122. High146. In Zone 46 of the 68 minutes. I'd brought some turkey cookies to send home with my Zumba gals. I had a sink full of dishes waiting for me at home, plus some garbages and laundry. Did an hour walk again, as well as some Zumba practice. With Marian not coming back, I'm practicing some of the songs that were "hers" that now I will add to my list. Need practice though! I glanced out at the ducks and there was a major altercation going on between the two males. Enough that I needed to go out and intervene. The one was just totally beating up the other. The poor fellow would try to run away, but the first was faster and stronger ... and MEAN. I ended up putting poor Costello in the pen for his own protection while I went to do my double pickups. Grabbed #5 right after school as usual, then was home for a few minutes before heading back to get #4. Again, he disappeared for a nap after school. I went back out to check on the ducks and stayed a while to see if they could get along. I tried introducing other things to do. The weather was just warm enough that I could attach the hose and refresh all the waters. I let the water run into the garden (they LOVE that) and did some digging. I ended up leaving Costello out with the others, but kept checking on him. Hope Abbott leaves him alone! Now I'm wondering if all the feathers all around are from those two fighting, not just a winter molt. Found one more egg, soft-shelled and it had to have slipped out while I was out there, as it suddenly appeared where it had not been before. I was planning on Haystacks for dinner tonight, but Hubs wrote and said he'd be a little late. Maybe tomorrow? He prepped the turkey breast for Thanksgiving, getting it brined. I ran #5 to practice, then went down to the gym to do weights until it was time to pick him up again.
(Wednesday) Weight 169.3. Steps 14096. Total Burn 2353. Exercise Burn 400 (Zumba+). Calories in 1800. Hubs and #2 were still off to work as usual, but the younger boys were out of school and sleeping in. I still hit Zumba w/MZL, but didn't get down in my gym for any elliptical before heading out. #4 had made plans to hang with friends at a local park, so I dropped him off on my way to class. Brought the remaining turkey cookies to hand out to Zumba friends. Stats: 5493 steps. 2.37 miles. 391/333 burn. AvHR115. High134. In Zone 12 of the 63 minutes. I went straight home after, no store stops. #3 and a friend showed up and spent a couple hours in the gym. I'd like to say that's why I didn't work out more today, but I still had plenty of time after they were done, but I never made it down. I did do some extra Zumba on my own during the day. I also did some Thanksgiving prep, making the roll dough and the crust for my pie-dessert. I'll finish both things tomorrow. Decorated the rest of my turkey sugar cookies. #4 ended up handing out with friends all day. They had done football at the park, then walked to get pizza, basketball at the park and then hanging at one of the kid's houses. One not on his "5-friend" list, so I wasn't quite sure where to grab him when it was finally time to come home. I'm not good driving in the dark finding new addresses. #2 and GF ran to the store to grab some supplies (and fill my car with gas, thank you!) and then we made french dip with the shaved prime rib. I made more wacky cake, as the one I made Monday was gone. I asked Hubs and the boys if they'd had some ... I think #2 and I ate it all ourselves! Oops! I'm sure it was mostly #2, not really me, right?
(Thursday) Weight 169.3. Steps 4856. Total Burn 1975. Exercise Burn 0/0 (no exercise). Calories in 3000. Hubs and I both slept in, until around 8:00. That's fairly unheard of for us! #3 had slept over at a friend's house. He came home early as he had a spikeball tournament. This truck had a tire with a slow leak, but Hubs has an air compressor here, so that sure comes in handy. MZL was still having Zumba, but I didn't think I had time to take an hour off in the morning. I got started on the rolls, and got them in pans rising. Then I finished up the chocolate dessert and made jello cubes. Hubs got the turkey smoking and got started on the potatoes. We were prepping everything to take, Hubs made a trip early to get some things over and settled. I like to have fresh rolls, but for ease of everything I baked them at home before we headed out. Some of them didn't turn out, a little doughy still, so I quickly whipped up a batch of cheesy biscuits to make sure we had enough bread. #1 and wife were bringing stuffing and beat us there, the rest of us fit into the Sequoya. Everything was set up. Disposable dishes, utensils and glasses, so no dishes really (I'd done a bunch earlier at home keeping up with all the cooking going on in our kitchen). After dinner we played a 10-person pirate game. #1 had "Tensi" dice, and it was fun to have the different colors for pirate. I ended up winning. Hubs set up the chocolate fountain for dessert dipping. A few years ago, Uncle Clay had come up with the idea of going to Grand America's buffet for Thanksgiving and so the whole Blackham side tried it that year. I hated it (actually had a panic attack) and while their family had gone back every year (once with Courtney's side of the family) we weren't ever going to. Clay's family decided to stay with family this year. One thing their kids had LOVED at GA was the chocolate fountain, and that was something we could still bring to the family dinner at home (we have three chocolate fountains). Hubs got everything cleaned up and even made a trip home (taking my chocolate dessert before Aunt Olivia got some, much to her chagrin! She was still recovering from an infection and extraction and could barely talk). Then it was movie time. #2 and I weren't going, so we got dropped home while Hubs and the kids met the cousins at the theater for Ralph Wrecks the Internet. They said it was great, and Hubs said it was good to see #4 laugh. He'd been very down much of the night. Very unhappy when the football game was turned off during dinner, and unhappy again when one of the little cousins absconded with his new light-up football he'd brought. #2 was off to take chocolate dipped goodies to his girlfriend, and I ... cleaned up the kitchen.
(Friday) Weight 170.5. Steps 17104. Total Burn 2427. Exercise Burn 450/652 (Zumba). Calories in 2700. Hubs had the day off, but still went in for a while. #3 was off to work early, opening up KFC at 8:00. He couldn't find his wallet though, and was in a bad mood because of that. It did turn up later in the bottom of his laundry basket. Just glad it was found. I hit Zumba w/MZL. The was a scheduling snafu and some folks were there to play pickleball, so we stayed on one half of the gym. It was a little crowded, but still fun. Christa came, and she had gone yesterday. She had texted me earlier in the week to ask if I knew of classes still going, as her instructor was on a cruise for the holiday weekend. Stats: 6605 steps. 2.88 miles. 438/411 burn. AvHR121. High 144. In Zone 37 of the 64 minutes. I wasn't about to try to hit any stores on Black Friday. The weather was quite mild today. I pulled down all the Fall decor and got it put away, and pulled out some Christmas. Hanging wreaths on the front door and over the garage lights. I put up the three alpine trees and requested #2's help to bring in the Christmas tree, but he was napping. I cleared out the corner in the front room where the tree will go, moving some furniture around. It was nice enough outside that I decided to mow the lawn for the final time. The front didn't really need it, but it looks nice evened out. It had been longer since I'd mowed the back, so it actually did need it. Raked up some leaves before mowing over what was left. The weather started to turn colder and there was some rain. I thought Hubs and the boys were going to go to Uncle Clay's annual "Lamp Lighting" donut party, but no one seemed to be in the mood, except #3, who had been planning on it, after missing out when everyone went last year. He was frustrated by the lack of interest, and #2 said he'd go, but by then #3 had turned off and made other plans. Hubs made popcorn and we watched "Love Actually" which neither of us had ever seen.
(Saturday) Weight 171.4. Steps 13280. Total Burn 2164. Exercise Burn 160/398 (30min/1.75milesTreadmill). Calories in 2400. I was awakened early, a little after 5:00, to rain/snow hitting the bedroom window. It was annoyingly noisy. I fell back asleep finally and both Hubs and I slept in until around 8:00. Awoke to snow. #3's car still had a slow leak, so Hubs and #3 went to drop it off, then go to Maga's to check on some things there. Unfortunately the repair was taking a little longer, as they needed some specialty nuts or something, so #3 had to head into work in the Durango. While Hubs was out, I did some work in the duck area. The trampoline is there, and I'd put a tarp over it in an attempt to keep the area under it dry. While this prevents water from dripping through, which is what I wanted, it was gathering heavily in the middle. I took a couple empty garbage bins and crawled under the tramp (putting down a tarp first) and placed them in the middle, pushing the center of the trampoline up a little, so hopefully water will drain down and off the edges. We'll see. The ducks don't seem to mind the cold and wet, and weren't even staying in the dry areas anyway. Still got one egg. I pulled more Christmas stuff in from the shed. Hubs had me go with him to pick up the truck, which was finally done. I dropped him off at Discount Tire and then he drove the truck to KFC to switch it for the Durango. #2 took the two littles to NickleMania, and #1 and wife met them there. They brought home some Little Caesar's pizza afterward. I hit the home gym for a walk on the treadmill. I'd been planning on making haystacks for dinner, but Hubs was craving Popeyes, so he went out to grab some. I was catching up on some computer stuff, when I went into the bedroom and found Hubs down for the night. It was 7:30. I went to bed around 8:30.
(Sunday) Weight 172.8. Steps 8098. Total Burn 2048. Exercise Burn 0/256 (no exercise). Calories in 2700. Both Hubs and I were awake in the night around 3:00-4:00 ... not too surprising with the early in. We both fell back asleep though, and slept in until after 8:00. We prepped breakfast. I got bacon and hashbrowns going, while Hubs made waffles. He made eggs and had some of his shaved prime rib with them. We'd invited #1 and wife over, but they couldn't make it until after their church meetings, ending at noon. They ended up staying all day, playing games. Hubs and I joined the kids downstairs for the "You Don't Know Jack" Drawful and Fibbage. They were fun. #1 and wife had also brought their kitty and doggy, so Joy was banished to the basement bedroom, which she doesn't like. She tore all the hats down, and ripped up some carpet. I did a quick Sams run for some bread, milk and a few other things. Wanted to grab a salad, but the romaine scare had the shelves cleared. Hubs smoked some ribs for dinner. #3 worked all day. ALL day. He was supposed to be open -8:00 but he stayed until close. Long day for him. We missed him for food and family fun.
(Monday) Weight 172.9. Steps 31093. Total Burn 3114. Exercise Burn 1311/1325 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 60min/3.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 1400. Hubs had a horrible night ... thus I did too. He was asleep early again, around 8:30. I went to bed around 9:00, but couldn't fall asleep until after 11:00. Hubs snoring, clearing his throat, tossing and turning. He was having some acid reflux and bloating and even when I could tell he was asleep, I knew it wasn't an easy sleep. He was awake a bit in the night too. I beat him out of bed in the morning. Got my full hour of elliptical in. I was worried it might be hard after my five-day hiatus, but it was fine. #4 seemed a bit down in the morning but got off to school fine. Carma had mentioned she wouldn't be able to hit Kirsten's class, and could I go help, so I did. Stats: 5877 steps. 2.55 miles. 384/343 burn. AvHR118. High136. In Zone 25 of the 57 minutes. As I'd done a store run yesterday, I didn't make any stops today. I put the card table and chairs away, did the dishes, fed the ducks (one egg), cleaned the inside of the washing machine (it was really bad, and since the cleaners had hit the outside it was even more noticeable) then did some laundry. Got in an hour walk, finishing up the show I'd started in the morning (Gridiron Gang, it was good). Then it was time to pick up the munchkins. I'd checked on #4's grades, and his most recent test retake was up, and he hadn't done great (75%, a C, class grade a B) and he cried when he found out. Those three days he missed are still not caught up on ... there are a couple math worksheets still, and an assignment in Language Arts. I should have gotten after him over the weekend to get those done. He ended up disappearing downstairs, sleeping off his emotion, for a few hours. Up later to watch NBA. #5 finished his book (Found) and said he'd be willing to try the second, as it ended on a cliffhanger. I know I had purchased it in the past, but I looked all over and couldn't find it. I checked online at the library, and it was available at the Bingham Creek branch. I'd just recieved a 50% email from Dominos, and it's been forever since we'd had that, so I placed an order, went and grabbed the book, and picked up the pizza/parmesan bites on the way home. It was yummy. I really hadn't eaten much all day, and didn't go overboard still. I dropped #5 off at practice, picking up a teammate on the way. #2 had a game. Picking up #5 took a bit longer, as they ran over, then we had to fill out some paperwork. Still have to pay but haven't been told how yet (check, venmo?)
(Tuesday) Weight 171.4. Steps 32795. Total Burn 3361. Exercise Burn 1700/1581 (70minElliptical, Zumba, 60min/3.5milesTreadmill, Bike, WEIGHTS). Calories in 1900. Hubs was out cold last night, he had taken an Ambien. Some snoring still, so it took me a bit to get to sleep. He was awake early, around 4:00, and I unfortunately wasn't able to get back to sleep after he left. I got up a little early, around 5:30, and hit the elliptical, finishing up my first session before I usually start it. I got an extra 10minutes in early. #4 was down again, but went to school. I headed over to the church for Zumba. I wasn't sure if Barbara was coming, she had said she had some things coming up, but she showed. So I started with just her. Then Bonnie came. Even with just a couple ladies, it's more fun than trying to do an hour on my own and it keeps me practicing. So I'll keep the class going as long as those two want to come. If they stop, I have a couple options I could hit. Teaching a full hour can be stressful, but I think I'd miss it if the class closed. Stats: 6219 steps. 2.6 miles. 454/367 burn. AvHR122. High142. In Zone 43 of the 62 minutes. I was a little hungry after my low calorie day yesterday. Still kept things in check (quantity, not quality) but it was hard. Got in an hour walk on the treadmill. I was going to head down to the gym again when #3 came home. He has work release, so it was early, but he'd mentioned an assignment he needed to do yesterday ... so I reminded him of that. He also wanted to get some college applications in as the priority deadline is Saturday and just won't have time (working, basektball game). He worked on an application for SUU which was a bit confusing as it said he'd already submitted an application, but he had never paid the fee. Not sure if he got it waved signing up for something at a school event. We'll see I guess. Not that he's thinking of that school for sure, but a friend is going there. #3 was in a mood though. He said he was too tired to do school work, needed a nap ... I'm never sure how hard to push, he does work so hard. I wish his work would schedule him less hours here as he's in school full time! I left a little early to grab the middle school kids, stopping at Smiths to grab a bagette for Hubs, who wanted french dip for dinner. I just did the self checkout and timed it perfectly. I never know when running an errand before hand. Back at home, I did a workout with weights. A little later, I finished up my movie (Benjiman Button) on the bike. Hubs worked late, but made it home and had his french dip. #2 was off to see a movie (#1 talked him into rejoining MoviePass again) and #3 was off watching the high school basketball game. KSL was live streaming it, so #5 and I peeked at the end of the game. Fond memories of going to all of #2's games ...
(Wednesday) Weight 170.9. Steps 26937. Total Burn 2999. Exercise Burn 1220/1222 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 2100. Hubs was up and off around 3:30. At least I was able to fall back asleep today. Felt refreshed when the alarm went off. Got my three 20min sessions on the elliptical in while getting the boys off to school. Then I headed to Zumba w/MZL. Stats: 6610 steps. 2.85 miles. 460/389 burn. AvHR118. High144. In Zone 31 of the 67 minutes. Lots of Christmas songs! I stopped at Walmart on the way home. That's usually one I hit on Thursdays, but I couldn't wait a day. Out of catfood, and I had a decent list of other stuff. Home to unload and get some things done around the house. I'd texted #1 and asked if he might come over to assemble the tree. #2 brought it in Sunday, and we'd hoped to get it up Monday, then Tuesday ... but it hadn't happened. He did get it up, but half the lights are out. Under the tree is the new favorite spot for the kitties. I guess that's better than IN the tree. #1 and I chatted for quite a bit. His FMLA is almost up, so we'll see what happens next ... I hit the gym for a treadmill walk before heading out to pick up the littles. #5 had said he was going to stay after and check out the Intramural activity, but he forgot, and was there with #4 for pickup. I guess that saved me having to make two trips. I made some strog for dinner and finished up a basketball video. Hubs was home early to rest his eyes a bit before heading out with #4 to a derby. Last one of the year. I made sure all the garbages got emptied and put the bins out. Did the dishes and prepped the house for cleaners tomorrow. I like the weekly, it's been two weeks and I guess Hubs and I are just used to things being cleaner. I know I could clean, but ...
(Thursday) Weight 171.1. Steps 24639. Total Burn 2911. Exercise Burn 1154/1131 (60minElliptical, Zumba, 35min/2milesTreadmill). Calories in 2200. Not a great night. Hubs has been snoring a lot. Most often right at the start of the night, which prevents me from falling asleep. Generally, I would sleep through it if already asleep. Last night though, I woke around midnight, and then couldn't get back to sleep for a while. And then I still beat Hubs out of bed. Foggy morning! I got my elliptical in, dropped the boys off at school, made sure the house was prepped for the cleaners, then headed to Zumba w/MZL. At the end of class I chatted with Sandra, who had a new Versa. She wanted a few tips. Very nice to come home to a clean house. I got a few things done, a treadmill time, then picked up #4 from school. #5 stayed after for Intramurals, and I picked him up an hour later. That drive home took a little longer, as that's right when all the busses are heading back to the hub, and the stop at the Trax tracks really slows things down. I made some cookie press cookies, the trees and snowflakes. #4 was in an extremely UP mood for most of the afternoon/evening. Nice change from his usual downtime, especially considering the day was quite dark and dreary weather-wise (that can affect me). #2 was home late, as he was donating plasma. #3 was working, per usual. We pulled out the fryer and had some fries, #4 whipped up some fry sauce.
(Friday) Weight 171.3. Steps 24001. Total Burn 2728. Exercise Burn 941/948 (60minElliptical, 60min/3.5milesTreadmill). Calories in 2000. I woke at the usual time (5:45) as Hubs got up, but I went back to sleep. I can do that on Fridays with Late Start at the schools. I got up around 7:30, and that extra hour+ felt SO good. Good dreams too. I got a couple sessions on the elliptical in before dropping the boys off to school. MZL didn't have a building today, so no Zumba. I went straight to the store (passed #1 on the road, but he didn't see me). Stopped in at the bank trying to adjust a payment. They couldn't change the withdrawal date, so I'll be doing it manually. I better not forget! Grabbed a few things at Maceys, then a quick DT stop. Home to unload. Got an hour treadmill walk in then went out back to work on duck stuff. I'd put a tarp over the tramp in an effort to provide the ducks with a dry space for this upcoming winter season, but the rain was causing it to gather in the middle (as it can't drain as it usually would without the tarp). I'd tried lifting it from the bottom with a couple garbage cans, but it wasn't enough. I had to crawl under and lift at the middle to get all the water off. Then I tried positioning a can on the tramp, under the tarp, tent fashion, so snow/rain would slide down and off. Not sure how sturdy it is. My clothes were dirty and wet, so I had to change. I was pretty wiped out too! I also got into the shed Halloween costumes to get a white suitcoat out ... #3 is going to the high school game and it's a "whiteout" theme. I picked up the littles from school. The weather hadn't been bad in the morning, especially with the 9:30 dropoff, so #4 hadn't taken a coat. After school was a different story. Temp had dropped and there was a sleety rain. Miserable. I'm sure #4 wished he had his jacket then! But ... there was a double rainbow. I got an email from the school, saying #5's permit had been revoked for the next school year, as the school was over-capacity with the new boundaries. Not really unexpected, and #5 will be okay. We'd had switching schools on the brain ever since the new boundaries were proposed. The original ideas would have moved a whole bunch of his friends too, making it a lot easier. But even without them, he still will know several kids at Joel P and he's adaptable and makes friends easy. And this puts him on a West Jordan High School path for sure (whereas staying at Elkridge might have steered him toward Bingham, and we are still crossing our fingers #4 can get in there). #5 had practice, so I dropped him off. He gets a ride home, so I was then in for the night. Hubs expressed some interest in the Utes football game against Washington, so I found which station and turned it on in the bedroom, as #4 was watching NBA games in the family room. I even ended up watching the football game too. I had just watched "Gridiron Gang" earlier in the week, and enjoy football shows, so I tried to pay a little more attention to understand the game. I hinted at popcorn, but Hubs didn't make any ... that kept me good on calories for the day anyway. #4 ended up having a friend over (rare!) and it was fun to hear them laughing it up. He's seemed a bit better the last few days ... could medication finally be kicking in?
