Week #237

Weight fluctuated during the week, and then ended up right about where it was for last week's weigh-in. The usual Thursday up ... not super surprising as Wednesday was Valentine's Day and Hubs and I did a little movie/popcorn that night (in bed ... I don't like facing the crowds, especially on a holiday).

NUMBERS: Official weight down a smidge (-.3) with the average up a smidge (.15). With the intake average at 2293 and the daily burn average at 2904, there was a small deficit for the week (-1682). Only two days under 2000 intake. Four days with burn 3000+. Two 30k days. Step average was 24257 with 66.75 logged miles.  Cardio minutes 900/977/982/899. 40 min w/weights.

EXERCISE: I hit my hour of elliptical five days, with a little more over the weekend. Five Zumba classes, with a little extra on my own as well. Five days had treadmill time. My Mon-Friday are my best days for exercise! 5 days! One weight session.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: The usual driving and grocery shopping. Needed a nail appointment this week, and I took #5 into the doctor to get his knee checked out. Nothing super serious, but he's supposed to REST. He'd had a game Monday night before the diagnosis, and still played one game Saturday (but not the three he was scheduled, nor the practices Thurs and Friday).

Here's a look at the Day by Day ...
  • Monday (0212) Didn't quite hit my 30k ... I usually do to start the week. Just feeling a little tired and didn't push there at the end to get there. Hour of elliptical, Zumba w/Debbie and two treadmill times. Kept calories in check. 29146 steps. 3082 burn. 1700 intake.
  • Tuesday (0213) Productive (and 30k) day. Started with my hour of elliptical, then Zumba w/Marian. Two treadmill times, some Zumba practice, and WEIGHTS. Stroganoff for dinner, homemade Oreos for dessert...I'd been doing okay on calories until cookie time! Hubs and #5 did a derby. 32549 steps. 3320 burn. 2500 intake.
  • Wednesday (0214) Got my hour of elliptical, Zumba (w/Southziders, as the MZL building had another funeral) but just one time on the treadmill. The drive to SZ is a little longer, and class starts later, and a store stop on the way home ... so just a little less time during the day. Then I went to middle school pickup early, so I was there when they got out, to gain a couple more minutes as I check-ed #5 out of school for a doctor appointment for his knee. I've learned to go straight to the orthopedic specialist rather than instacare if possible. It was as I suspected, "Jumper's Knee" with some bursitis as well (he hit it during a game a couple weeks ago). Ibuprofen, Ice and REST. It's that third one that's tough, as he was supposed to play in a President's Day tournament this weekend with his Wolves in addition to his regular games plus practices. But it won't get better and could get worse. So I told his coaches and hopefully 10-14 days of rest should get him back on track. Made sugar cookie hearts and then watched a DVD with Hubs for our Valentine date. Except we both fell asleep before it was over ... 26223 steps. 3063 burn. 2300 intake.
  • Thursday (0215) Zumba w/MZL today, it was their Valentine celebration with everyone wearing red/pink and a potluck feast after. Class went a little long too, to steps/burn were higher than usual (8821 steps/536 burn). Also got in my hour of elliptical, two treadmill times and a little Zumba practice. Some shopping steps, and I think I just stayed pretty active all day, except for finishing the movie with Hubs ;) He had worked from home, feeling a bit spinny today. He and #5 did a derby in the evening. 34764 steps. 3375 burn. 2400 intake.
  • Friday (0216)  Middle school was out today. I started my day an hour later than the usual Mon-Thurs. Zumba w/MZL with a stop at the nail salon after. Early out at the elementary, but #5 sat out his two basketball practices in the afternoon/evening to rest his knee. 25274 steps. 2923 burn. 1950 intake.
  • Saturday (0217) Just two 20min sessions on the elliptical. No new Grey's Anatomy, but I still had the one from last week to watch. #5 skipped his two Wolves games, but went to his Grizzlies bb game and played, AMA. Got the win. 14939 steps. 2487 burn. 2400 intake.
  • Sunday (0218) we had a family breakfast in the morning, and BBQ in the evening. No exercise. Winter storm forecast for tonight and tomorrow and colder weather coming. 6907 steps. 2077 burn. 2800 intake.
*** What I Watched While Working Out ***
I watched five movies down in the gym this week ... all were new releases (out in 2017) that were now streaming (via HBO). I'd heard a lot of good buzz about Wonder Woman. I liked it, but didn't love it. I think I'm just a little "off" superhero movies right now. Next up was The Zookeeper's Wife. I'd told my #2 that he should take his girlfriend to it, as she's a cute redhead who loves animals and matches the picture perfectly ... watching it ... NOT the best show for an animal lover! Sad, but I was glad I'd watched it. For Valentine's Day, I thought I'd do a bit of a love story, even if it was teenage love. Everything, Everything. Interesting premise, with a girl kept in her germ-free house. Twist there at the end I hadn't anticipated at all. My Sister's Keeper (2009) was my one older flick (set to expire from HBO in February). I liked it. Finally, Get Out, which my boys had really liked. I really didn't know anything about it, other than it was going home to meet the parents. I guess because of that I was almost expecting a bit of a "Meet the Parents" type show, which it wasn't (not that I remember that movie at all either). I think this really blew my boys away ... but for me, and my many paranormal reads, it really wasn't all that "wow" although it did keep my interest and adrenaline up.

Hubs and I also watched a couple movies ... NOT while working out. These ones were laying in bed while munching on popcorn. We didn't make it through either, falling asleep and having to resume the next day. That is a danger when watching at the end of the day in bed! Not so much of an issue when I'm in my gym ;)  Blade Runner was a bit of a confusing mess in my opinion. The words written at the beginning were super small and I didn't quite catch them (explanations setting thing up) and I hadn't seen (or don't recall) the original movie. I also didn't remember the first Guardians, although I know I saw it (in theaters no less). This one was super silly, and one I enjoyed much more with Hubs right there laughing. On my own I think I would have gotten a little more annoyed at the super silliness, as that even edged in here near the end.

Five Featured Photos ...
